Uig
lodge smoked salmon is made exclusively in the lodge itself. The Lodge sits proudly
above Uig bay and the Fhorsa River on the far West coast of Lewis, the largest
of the Outer Hebrides.
Built in 1876 by Sir James Matheson, Lord Leverhulme
later purchased the Lodge and gave it to his niece as a wedding present. Let mainly
as a sporting lodge it is also available for family and large group holidays and
makes an ideal location for those with a love of the sea and open spaces.
It is an inspiring building which everyone who visits
the area remembers. Among many famous people who have stayed here is Arthur Ransome,
the world-renowned author of the Swallows and Amazons children's books (see panels)
