How is your smoked salmon made?
[top]
Great care is taken during every process involved with the salt curing and oak smoking of our fish. The process, done entirely by hand takes over two days and the delicious smokey taste and succulent, mouth-watering texture justifies the skilled work. Read about the process in detail on our Smokehouse Tour

Where can I find Uig Lodge Smoked Salmon? Is it available in shops?
[top]
You can of course buy our smoked salmon online at this site. It is also available through select retailers throughout the UK.

What about Shipping And Handling?
[top]
There is a small postage charge for our Smoked Salmon Packs of £4.75 for orders up to 1 kg/ £6.30 for orders over 1 kg (these rates are for UK orders only).

Orders are taken daily but due to the time taken for the production process and our pride in work, it is advisable to order a week before you require the salmon. This way you will be getting the freshest and tastiest smoked salmon possible.

Shipping for orders for delivery outside the UK will be calculated by weight and charged to you at cost. We will email you with a quote for shipping before your order is finalised.

How do I know my Credit Card and personal details are secure?

SSL encryption, indicated by the padlock which appears in your browser, means orders are made securely. Confirmation of your order is immediately sent to the buyer and orders are numbered and stored encrypted, meaning they can never get lost.

More: We use "Evolve Ecart" from Lynx Internet Solutions for secure online transactions. You are protected by SSL (Secure Socket Layer) secure servers, and a Thawte Digital I.D.

The SSL server protects any data sent to it from your browser. It is fully capable of using either 40 bit or 128 bit key. The key size of your browser determines which is used. By default, most Web browsers use 40 bit keys, as this is the current export limit imposed by the US government. If you use a 128 bit key browser our secure server will be able to use the higher level encryption as well.

In addition, the Lynx secure server we use has a unique Digital ID to verify its authenticity. A Digital ID is much like a notary's seal and signature on a paper document. In other words, the Digital ID (sometimes called a Certificate) is used to certify that people using SSL and other public key encryption are who they claim to be. Web browsers are designed to refuse to communicate using SSL with a Web server that does not have a valid Digital ID. Digital IDs/Certificates are obtained from a Certificate Authority (CA). The CA currently used by Lynx Internet Solutions (our secure online transaction provider) is Thawte, and the certificate is issued to Lynx protecting all of our online business activities.
